San Pedro Mission Wind Bell: A Study in 17th-Century Frontier Resonance
Historical Architecture in Metal
The San Pedro y San Pablo de Tubutama is a sophisticated addition to the Lago Luna Mission Bell Collection™. Inspired by the hand-wrought ceramic and metal bells of 17th-century Northern Mexico, this piece is a masterwork of Modernist Alchemy. The crown is distinguished by three hand-forged rings, a symbolic architectural tribute to the three historic church buildings constructed at the Tubutama mission between 1691 and 1706.
Artisan Craftsmanship & Living Finish
Individually hand-fabricated by Master Craftsman Marc Staples in our Buffalo Junction, Virginia studio, the San Pedro represents a bridge between ancient frontier resilience and contemporary fine art.
-
Hand-Wrought Steel: Unlike mass-produced cast bells, our instruments are forged from high-gauge architectural steel and select repurposed materials for lifetime durability.
-
The Living Patina: We apply a proprietary torch-firing process to create a Weathered Bronze & Copper finish. This reactive surface shifts in tone from deep obsidian to radiant amber, evolving beautifully as it interacts with your local environment.
-
The Maker’s Mark: Authenticity is everything. Every bell features the artist’s monogram—a discreet "M" hand-stamped onto the striker.
The Legacy of the Pimería Alta
Founded in 1691, Tubutama was the administrative heart of the Jesuit missions. It was the first "fortified town" in the region, built with ramparts to protect the community. The San Pedro bell embodies this spirit of protection and endurance, offering a grounding, earthy resonance for the modern sanctuary.
