This Modern Southwest-inspired rustic bell is named Mission Wind Bell San Martin. It is a newer addition to our Original Bell Collection that we call Mission Bells™ and is a gorgeous addition to your outdoor oasis or indoor retreat.
The length of the bell, from top of the hanging chain to the bottom of the sail is approximately 30 inches. The windbell body is 4 inches in diameter. Our rustic bells are not cast as in the old days. Instead, we make our Mission Bells from high quality steel and repurposed materials that we patina to create a beautiful, torched copper finish. Due to their handmade nature each and every bell is unique.
A bit of Spanish Mission History
Mission San Martín de Ayacutu, also known as Fig Springs, was a significant Spanish mission established in 1608 at a powerful Timucua chiefdom's main village in present-day Ichetucknee Springs State Park, Florida. Situated on the vital Camino Real, the mission served as a key point for evangelization and Spanish control, subjecting the Timucua people to Catholic conversion, forced labor, and the provision of resources to Spanish travelers. However, the pressures of disease and overwork ultimately led to the 1656 Timucua uprising, during which the mission was destroyed and subsequently abandoned, contributing to the dramatic depopulation of the Timucua province.
