Mission San Agustin Wind Bell: Hand-Forged 30-Inch Heritage Sound Sculpture
A Melodic Tribute to Ancient Resilience
The San Agustin is the latest masterwork in our original Mission Bell Collection™. Inspired by the enduring spirit of New Mexico’s Mission San Agustin de Isleta (est. 1613), this design bridges the gap between Modernist Alchemy and the architectural legacy of the Southwest. It is a soulful focal point designed to ground your outdoor oasis, private courtyard, or modern interior sanctuary.
Artisan Craftsmanship & The Living Finish
-
Signature Grape Motif: The bell’s surface features hand-wrought details inspired by the ancient vines of the frontier, providing a tactile geometry that interacts beautifully with light.
-
The Living Patina: Each bell undergoes our proprietary torch-firing process to create a Weathered Torched-Copper finish. This reactive patina draws out an iridescent spectrum of reddish-brown, cobalt blue, and radiant copper tones that deepen in character over time.
-
Master Craftsman Authenticity: Hand-fabricated—never cast—in our Virginia studio, every San Agustin bears the artist’s monogram—a small "M" hand-stamped onto the striker—certifying its provenance as a genuine Marc Staples original.
Historical Resonance: The Isleta Legacy
This sculpture honors the Mission San Agustin de Isleta, potentially the oldest functioning church structure in North America. Having survived the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 and stood for over four centuries, the mission is a testament to cultural endurance. Our bell captures this spirit of resilience, offering a rich, earthy resonance that connects the modern home to the deep history of the Tiwa people.

Technical Engineering & Motif: Standing at a 30-inch total display length, the bell features a hand-wrought "Grape Motif" inspired by ancient frontier vines. This provides a tactile geometry that acts as a light-harvesting surface. Unlike mass-produced cast bells, this is hand-fabricated from heavy-gauge architectural steel to produce a rich, earthy resonance that grounds large outdoor courtyards or modern interior sanctuaries.
The Living Finish: The piece undergoes a proprietary torch-firing process to achieve a Weathered Torched-Copper patina. This reactive finish draws out an iridescent spectrum of cobalt blue, reddish-brown, and radiant copper. Protected by a high-gloss sealant, the patina is designed to deepen in character over time while resisting environmental wear.
Artisan Metadata: Individually hand-wrought at Lago Luna Studio. Every San Agustin bears the hand-stamped "M" monogram on the striker, certifying its status as a genuine Marc Staples original. It represents a "Sound Sculpture" investment for collectors of Southwestern history and high-end metalwork.
