"Ocean Echos" Wall Sculpture

A striking medley of shapes, Ocean Echos is a 21 element wall sculpture that contrasts flowing lines of metal with disks representing sand dollars in vibrant hues. The disks are forged and hammered steel adding exquisite texture, color, and detail.

The symbolism of the sand dollar has evolved over time. The five-pointed star, easily reminiscent of the stars in the sky, has led some to associate them with celestial bodies, representing guidance and wonder.  The fact that they're often found whole and intact after the creature has passed might symbolize resilience and the enduring nature of life, even after death.  The smooth, circular shape, like a coin, has also connected them to prosperity and good fortune in some cultures.  Perhaps, most powerfully, the sand dollar embodies the mysteries of the ocean, a reminder of the hidden world beneath the waves and the interconnectedness of all living things.
